Travelling by train is something special.
As soon as you begin, that is arrive at the train station, buy the ticket, check the schedule, get on the train, all of the cities and towns and villages that are on the train`s route begin to exist. Begin to really exist, that is are no longer just sposts on a map, but real places you can go to. All you need to do is get off on the right station. It`s suddenly all there. The actor/narrator Marco Paolini says that the trains are "a lateral vision of life" |
